Blair Scanlan
Research Assistant
Local To Big-Picture Analyst, Burke Gilman Bike Rider, Cooking Enthusiast
Blair joined Cedar River Group in 2007 as a research assistant, and enjoys using his analytical and communication skills on a variety of projects. His most rewarding work at Cedar River Group has been travelling to Turkey and the United Kingdom to interview officials at four ferry systems and witness their operations. Blair synthesized this information into reports and presentations for Washington State Ferries staff, the Washington State Legislature, and a group of public citizens working on a pilot project for ferry reservations in Washington. Blair also enjoyed providing research and logistical support for a citizens’ committee that helped create the 2008 Parks and Green Spaces Levy, preserving and creating vital parks and green spaces in Seattle. In 2008 he had the opportunity to take a brief leave before the November election and volunteer for the Presidential campaign effort in Florida.
Prior to joining Cedar River Group, Blair worked as a transportation sales associate for a Fortune 500 logistics provider where he was responsible for managing customer accounts, sales and running the less-than-truckload freight for his branch. Blair graduated from the University of Washington Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies with a Bachelor’s degree in International Studies in 2004. He is currently studying Spanish to build on prior student experiences in Nicaragua, Mexico and Spain.
Blair lives in the Roosevelt neighborhood of Seattle and loves its proximity to the Burke-Gilman trail for biking. In his free time he enjoys playing sports with friends, going to local sporting events, travelling, cooking, and Seattle’s vibrant food and drink scene.
